The "Institute for Health Care Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM)" as a trend-setting organization for medical technology in Southeast Asia hosting end of last year a conference about the latest trends in the design and maintain of hospitals.

In total of 200 visitors took part in the event under the motto "Engineering Smart Hospitals". HT Group is currently building together with their local agency Blickson Ltd. state-of-the-art operating rooms at Tuen Mun Hospital in Hong Kong. That is why Ricson Tsang, managing director Blickson Ltd., and Jörg Hamacher, regional manager Asia HT Health Tec GmbH, were asked to speak about the latest innovation in this area.

In his lecture, Jörg Hamacher first explained the current design of patient rooms and bathrooms. In order to relieve the staff during patient transport for e.g. toilet visits, mobilizing patients, etc. rooms are equipped with modern ceiling-integrated lift systems. By using modern lighting solutions and a "healing environment" in patient rooms, the length of stay of patients will be significantly reduced. Another focus of his lecture was the implementation of modern tracking systems in hospital operations. According to international studies time-consuming search for medical equipment will have an end. The visitors were also informed about the latest innovations in hospital hygiene matters. It is possible to equip rooms with automatic decontamination devices, which make it possible to disinfect the room within 90 minutes if there is a change of patient.

The presentations were of such great interest to the participants that Ricson Tsang and Jörg Hamacher subsequently gave detailed, one-on-one discussions about the modern options.
