BSL-2 Laboratories

BSL-2 laboratories are planned in accordance with the regulations of the German Biological Substances Ordinance (BioStoffV) and the standards from the USA and Canada: "Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories" and (BMBL) and "Canadian Laboratory Biosafety Guidelines Health Canada".

"Biological agents" are divided into four risk groups according to their degree of danger (risk of infection, severity of illness and therapeutic options). Accordingly, laboratories are divided into four "Biological Safety Levels" (BSL-1 to BSL-4). Depending on the classification of the pathogens to be tested, corresponding requirement profiles arise for the laboratories. HT specializes in particular in the high requirements of risk groups or safety levels 2, 3 and 4.

Risk group 2 defines:
Biological agents that can cause disease in humans and could pose a risk to employees. Spread to the population is unlikely, effective prevention or treatment is usually possible.

Controlled environment
BSL-2 laboratories require a standardized and controlled environment protected by a hygienic barrier.
These technical barriers, control and monitoring systems guarantee compliance, control and traceability of the safety guidelines defined by national and international regulations.
Thanks to HT's prefabricated and modular design, changes and adaptations to new requirements and access to technical systems can be implemented quickly, cleanly and easily.
