Intensive care and intermediate care ICU/IMC

Both the spatial design and the equipment of intensive care units differ considerably from standard hospital wards in order to meet the particular requirements involved in caring for seriously ill people.

The use of a wide range of medical equipment, for instance, to constantly monitor patients, for ventilation, to administer medication and for anaesthesia, requires considerably more space and personnel than on a normal ward. Additional equipment may also be used, such as for endoscopy, diagnostic sonography or echocardiography.

Intensive care units are generally climate controlled and, in the event of a power failure, are safeguarded using an emergency power supply system. The use of glass walls and sliding glass doors with darkening options is recommended to efficiently monitor the entire ward.

For this area, which is usually downstream from the operating theatre, HT offers all of the components required for the room systems – in particular, room-high glass fronts and sliding doors and a wide range of solutions such as ceiling-mounted hoist systems, healing light installations, furniture and room management systems.
