Digital collaboration

In the second construction phase of the building complex, both BIM and lean construction were practiced, so digital working principles were used in the project instead of traditional paper drawings.
Mobile BIM kiosks were used within the building (as container solutions in the shell construction phase) to manage the construction site. In combination with the extensive use of tablets, cell phones and laptops, this ensured easy access to all work documents.

Project manager Kristian Brandseth from the project office in Helse Bergen says that the project was fully digitized in both the planning and construction phases. Digital collaboration and systematic processing was a key part of the project strategy.

"The client wanted to enable a project implementation with a strong focus on lean philosophy, lean methodology/working methods and tools, where all these factors are seen in context and information flows between the digital tools. This is the first and largest project to be fully digitized. Digital collaboration has many advantages. It facilitates transparency and a good flow of information. Everyone involved has access to the information they need at all times and there are no barriers between computer systems. It is also an advantage that the documentation is entered before construction begins. Thanks to our focus on digital collaboration/lean construction/systematic completion, we were well positioned when the pandemic hit the country in 2020. We were able to communicate and report via our digital systems," says Brandseth

Five departments

The basic idea behind the concept was that the specialist staff should come to the patient. This means that children and adolescents are examined, treated, accommodated and cared for in one and the same place. In addition, women in labor will have their own room with sleeping facilities for their partners.

The second construction phase includes the operating wing, an emergency room, a laboratory, wards, outpatient clinics and a café.
The building has five departments: Clinic for Children and Adolescents, Radiology and Laboratories for Children and Adolescents, Pediatric and Adolescent Surgery, Maternity Ward and Gynecology.

HT Group was responsible for the operating theaters, which are spread over two floors with a total of 12 operating rooms.
