On Friday and Saturday, August 13/14, 2021, a prefabricated laboratory building was structurally implemented by HT Group in only 48 hrs at the site of the Campus Virchow-Clinic of the Charité.

Project presentation:

This is a GMP laboratory in modular construction, commissioned in November, which is to be used as an interim building over a period of 7 years. The concept was developed by Charité together with HT Group to provide the required manufacturing capacity for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) on short notice.

A GMP building with manufacturing capacity that can be operated according to the current state of science and technology

The project "Replacement Building Laboratory 1", serves as a working prototype and a construction-technological, economical and conceptual proof is aimed, from which conclusions can be drawn for the later laboratory building: The aim is to prove that in the GMP sector, maximum prefabrication in the factory helps to achieve higher quality standards at lower costs compared with a conventionally constructed building. This should also be accompanied by a considerable time advantage up to manufacturing availability, including a time-condensed qualification and acceptance process.

The construction site is located in the Berlin-Wedding district on the grounds of the Campus Virchow-Clinic, namely in the immediate vicinity of the "Internal Medicine" clinic building with the outpatient clinic and wards. It is also very close to the planned location of the future laboratory building. In the period of the next 4 months, the remaining implementation of the building and laboratory technology as well as the qualification and user training will take place.
