BSL-3+ Laboratory in Pulawy

The National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) in Puławy, Poland, is one of Europe’s leading veterinary research institutes. Its core responsibilities include applied veterinary medicine and research in areas such as infectious animal diseases, hygiene control, and the toxicology of food and feed of animal origin. The institute also serves important functions as the national reference laboratory for animal diseases and food safety.

NVRI is closely connected internationally as well. As part of the VET-TWIN project, it works with partners including the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) to further develop expertise in animal health and food safety. In doing so, the institute makes an important contribution that extends far beyond Poland.

To expand the research infrastructure, HT Group successfully delivered a new BSL-3+ laboratory and an ABSL area. Based on its certified, proven modular construction method and decades of experience in high-containment laboratories, HT Group completed a turnkey laboratory facility in just 16 months. The project met demanding requirements for airtightness, controlled pressure conditions, airflow management, decontaminability, and operational safety for users and the public.

Particular emphasis was placed on the precise execution of the building envelope, filtration technology, and technical interfaces. Especially in BSL-3 and ABSL areas, this controlled room structure provides the basis for safe laboratory operations and the reliable separation of sensitive areas.

The turnkey delivery included coordination of the key structural and technical components through to a fully operational handover. The result is a modern laboratory environment that consistently meets stringent requirements for quality, safety, and controllable operating conditions.
