Containment

House within a house

A containment area is a modularly constructed, gas-tight room system including a self-supporting substructure
onto which single- or double-sided stainless steel panels can be screwed. The panels are sealed against each other using a dry seal which is
resistant to chemicals and aging. The laboratory is only accessible via multi-stage sluice systems and access controls.

Materials which are to be disposed of are discharged via autoclaves. Feed and exhaust air is cleaned using
high-performance filters. Waste water is disposed of using the technical waste water deactivation system. The "house within a house" ensures that all possible means are used to seal off highly infectious pathogens from the outside world.
